There are going to be three ODIs and two test match series between Australia and India. Australian cricket team will tour India for these events. India is first scheduled to host seven match ODI series against Australia but as per the request of BCCI, Cricket Australia accepted the proposal sent by BCCI of modifying the fixtures.
In a one-day cricket match, each team bats only once, and each innings is limited to 50 overs in a One-day International. Fixtures for ODI sometimes have to be shifted because of the heavy schedule for cricket events. BCCI has changed the tour schedule against Australia. The two test matches will be played up to 13th October. The venue of three ODI's will be Kochi, (17th), Vishakapatnam (20th) and Goa (24th).
ODI status has to be conferred on any nation and its team. The International Cricket Council (ICC) confers this status. Only matches played between such teams that have been conferred the status shall be called ODIs. All the 10 Test playing nations, who by the way are the ten full members of the ICC, have permanent ODI status. They are Australia, England, New Zealand, Pakistan, West Indies, India, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and South Africa. ODI status is also temporarily granted by the ICC to other teams. At present these are Kenya, Canada, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland and Afghanistan.
The record for the most number of 100s and 50s in ODIs is held by Sachin Tendulkar of India. He also has the most runs in ODIs and the only person to score a double century in ODI. The record for the highest innings total in any List A limited overs match is 443 for nine by Sri Lanka against Netherlands in their One Day International 50-overs match at Amstelveen on July 4, 2006. Chaminda Vaas has the best bowling figure 8-19 in the match between Sri Lanka v Zimbabwe in Colombo, 2001-02 - he is the only player to take eight wickets in a One Day international
